Cat Reunited With Owner At Christmas
Jan 2, 2013
On December 24th a Delta Animal Services Officer attended the home of a good Samaritan who had been feeding a stray cat. The cat had been contained in her garage and we were able to go and pick it up. The cat was very thin and had obviously had a hard time fending for itself. Luckily it picked the right house to attact a caring heart to feed it.
When we brought the cat back to the shelter we were thrilled to see that the cat had a very clear and legible tattoo! The only issue was that the veterinary hospital was closed until Boxing day so we were unable to find the owner until they opened. On December 26th we contacted the veterinary clinic who provided the shelter staff with the owner information! What made this holiday reuniting even better was that the little cat "Taseko" had been missing for three months and the owner had presumed her lost forever!
This story is an important reminder to pet owners about the importance of permanent identification like tattoo's or microchips. We want to encourage everyone who is a pet owner to routinely check that their pets tattoo can be read and that the veterinarian has the correct phone number to contact you.
