Small Animal Care
Age Requirement: 14 years or older.
Shift Times: 12pm - 5pm (Mon - Fri) / 12pm - 4pm (Sat & Sun)
The small animals in the shelter tend not to be the focus of most visitors but they cannot be forgotten or treated as second class shelter guests. The rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchilla's and other small animals are part of our shelter family and equally need the love and attention we have to offer. Volunteers are extremely valuable in helping care for the small bodied critters in the shelter.
- Cage cleaning to ensure a comfortable and healthy home
- Refresh water and diet (veggies, pellets, fruit)
- Grooming (especially important for rabbits)
- Environment enrichment
- Socialize animals to increase adoptability
- Provide exercise and supervision to animals
- Assist with answering questions from visitors/public
